This statement was added on June 7th, 2020. I will be the first to admit that it should have been added far sooner.
Finch and Laurel is a one-woman business, and as a result, it stands for the same values and ethical beliefs that I do. Part of Finch and Laurel's mission statement has always been that this service is here to serve families of all shapes and sizes. However, given the events that have transpired since George Floyd's death in late May, I have realized that this is not a sufficiently clear stance. I do not want to leave Finch and Laurel's viewpoint on human rights issues open to interpretation.
Finch and Laurel stands against racism and white supremacy, and stands with the Black Lives Matter movement.
Finch and Laurel stands in support of the LGBTQIA community.
Finch and Laurel welcomes people with disabilities.
Finch and Laurel is aware of the environmental impact that this business has on our planet, and takes steps to reduce that impact (paperless booking processes, digital image and video delivery.)
Finch and Laurel is committed to a culture of acceptance, inclusion, and love.
Finch and Laurel welcomes families of all shapes and sizes.
If you become my client, please know that you are supporting these ideals and values in the process. I take great care in selecting my vendors for my albums and printed products, and make sure that they share the same values that I do. A portion of my income goes to monthly donations that support causes relating to these values, including donations to the ACLU and NAACP. Finch and Laurel also donates a select number of sessions per year for families who are experiencing hardship and life challenges, are celebrating overcoming a hardship, or who are otherwise in need. I recognize that myself and this company are not perfect, but I continue to educate myself to be better and do better every day.
